Heritage Aviation (Delhi International) operated the first-ever scheduled flight out of Ghaziabad, a secondary airport serving the Delhi agglomeration, on October 11, 2019.
The Press Trust of India has reported that the first flight to Pithorgarh in northern India was operated with a Beech (twin turboprop) King Air 350 aircraft. Heritage Aviation plans to operate the route 6x weekly. For now, it will remain the only scheduled service to either Hindon or Pithorgarh.
Going forward, Heritage Aviation also plans to operate from Hindon to Dehra Dun, Hubli, Shimla, Faizabad Ram Lala, Gulbarga, Nashik, and Coimbatore.
Star Air (India) (S5, Belgaum) is also planning to launch services from Hindon. Using an E145 to fly to Hubli from November 9, 2019, the airline will become the first jet operator at the new airport.
Hindon has been converted from a purely military airport to a dual-use facility in order to take over some flights from Delhi International, which operates near its capacity limits. Hindon was officially opened to civilian aircraft in March 2019 but has so far not seen any scheduled traffic.
