Air Indus (MPK, Karachi International) had planned to launch domestic operations in Pakistan with three ex-Bulgaria Air (FB, Sofia) B737-300s in January but has fallen victim to political debates in the country after rumours that the sister of president Asif Ali Zardari would be the driving force behind the new start-up. In an interesting chain of events, this has caused the president to declare the revocation of Air Indus' operating certificate. A high court has since reversed that decision but it is unclear if and when Air Indus will be able to commence operations.
