Albatros Airlines (GAL, Maracay Mariscal Sucre) has wet-leased an A320-200 from Estonia's ACMI/charter specialist SmartLynx Airlines Estonia (MYX, Tallinn Lennart Meri), Skyliner Aviation has reported.
ES-SAV (msn 2123) was ferried from Riga via Reykjavik Keflavik and Montréal Mirabel to Porlamar on November 12, 2019. The aircraft has been repainted to add Albatros Airlines' logo. The wet-lease will continue through the end of March, SmartLynx Brand and Communications Manager Snezana Tomic confirmed to ch-aviation.
The A320 will join Albatros Airlines' fleet of one B737-500 and three E120RTs. The carrier operates scheduled services from Caracas Simón Bolivar to Barranquilla, Las Piedras, San José Juan Santamaría, Maracay Mariscal Sucre, and Porlamar, as well as from Porlamar to Cali and Maracay, the ch-aviation schedules module shows.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, SmartLynx Estonia operates a further eight A320-200s, of which two are active, operating the carrier's charter flights and the rest is grounded for maintenance. SmartLynx Airlines (6Y, Riga) operates six A320-200s and seven A321-200s, while SmartLynx Airlines Malta (2N, Malta International) operates a single A320-200.
