Conviasa (V0, Caracas Simón Bolivar) has taken redelivery of its only widebody jet ahead of its deployment into service later this quarter.
A340-200 YV1004 (msn 31) was ferried from Tehran Mehrabad, where it had been undergoing extensive heavy maintenance at Mahan Air's facilities since July last year, to Caracas Simón Bolivar earlier this month.
Conviasa's president, Ramón Celestino Velásquez Araguayán, said via social media that he expects to use the 27-year-old jet to resume longhaul flights to Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini in February followed by Damascus, Syria in March 2020.
In the past, Conviasa has also touted the use of the A340 in reopening routes to Europe and Asia.
At present, the ch-aviation fleets module shows Conviasa operates a mainline fleet of fifteen E190ARs (of which seven are active) alongside VIP transports that include one A319-100CJ, one B737-200Adv., and one E190 Lineage 1000.
