Cabo Verde Airlines (VR, Sal Amilcar Cabral International) (CVA) has issued a press release clarifying the situation with regards to the ATR42-320 it has wet-leased from Lease Fly (Cascais) for use on its domestic and regional network. The aircraft, CS-DVO (msn 337), is in the process of being licensed to move to the Cape Verdean register and has been temporarily withdrawn from service for the duration of the procedure.
Flights have been cancelled since February 1, but "should resume operations at the beginning of next week, when domestic inter-island connections will be resumed," the airline said in its press statement. In addition to domestic Cabo Verde flights, CVA also uses the aircraft to fly to Dakar Blaise Diagne International in Senegal.
The partnership between CVA and Lease Fly commenced in August 2019, to ensure connections from Sal Amilcar Cabral International to Praia, São Vicente and São Filipe. The service links the other islands of the archipelago to the CVA hub in Sal, from where the airline operates to destinations in Senegal, Nigeria, Portugal, France, Italy, the US, and Brazil.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, in addition to the wet-leased ATR42-320, CVA operates a B737-300 (wet-leased from Cobrex Trans), four of its own B757-200s as well as another wet-leased from Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik).
