Allied Air (4W, Lagos) has signed an agreement with Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) for two converted B737-800(F)s with options for a further two of the type.
The US conversion specialist said in a press release that the first of the firm ordered aircraft, msn 36746, will enter into conversion at its Commercial Jet facility at Miami International later this month. The 10.4-year-old aircraft, which last operated as B-5443 for Beijing Airlines (BJN, Beijing Capital), will be the youngest B737-800 to undergo P2F conversion to date.
AEI did not disclose the identity of the second firm-ordered B737-800.
The Nigerian cargo specialist currently operates three AEI-converted B737-400(F)s, one of which flies on behalf of DHL Aviation (South Africa) (DHV, Johannesburg Lanseria). It also wet-leases one MD-11(F) from Western Global Airlines (KD, Fort Myers Southwest Florida), predominantly for its services connecting various points in Africa to Liège.
