HiSky (H7, Chisinau International) has announced it has entered into a long-term dry-lease agreement with Air Lease Corporation to add its first in-house aircraft, an A320-200, with delivery scheduled for July 2020.
The aircraft, msn 4493, is a 9.7-year-old narrowbody powered by International Aero Engines V2527-A5 engines and is currently stored at San Bernardino. It was previously operated by bankrupt Ernest Airlines (Milan Malpensa) and was due to be dry-leased by Volaris (Y4, México City International) but ultimately not taken up by the Mexican LCC.
HiSky initially planned to launch in early April this year as a virtual carrier chartering an A320-200 from Cobrex Trans (CBX, Brasov International). It had hoped to connect Chisinau International with a number of destinations in Europe. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it deferred its launch plans to July 1, when Moldova plans to reopen its borders.
It is unclear if HiSky still wants to launch using the A320 chartered from Cobrex Trans before its own A320 is delivered.
HiSky did not respond to ch-aviation's request for clarification.
