Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos) has formally unveiled its Azul Conecta (2F, Jundiaí) subsidiary with plans to use the regional Brazilian carrier to haul both passengers and cargo to Brazil's more remote towns.
Formerly TwoFlex Táxi Aéreo Inteligente (Jundiaí), Azul Conecta's fleet entails seventeen Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravans 208Bs of which three are dedicated freighters and will operate under the Azul Cargo Express brand.
According to Flávio Costa, the CEO of Azul Conecta, the carrier has already resumed flight operations at key bases in Aracatuba (SP), Marília (SP), Bauru, SP, and Macapá (AM).
“With these aircraft, we will transform Brazil once again. We will reach 200 destinations. Everyone is sad about what is happening in the world, but it will end. We have to look ahead and help Brazil to grow,” Azul president John Rodgerson said in a statement.
Azul acquired TwoFlex for BRL123 million reais (USD21.5 million) in May this year. Aside from its extensive network of last-mile connectivity to remote towns and villages across Brazil, the carrier also had 14 daily slots at São Paulo Congonhas.
