TAAG Angola Airlines (DT, Luanda 4 De Fevereiro) will resume domestic operations from September 14, 2020 and international schedules from September 21, 2020 from its base at Luanda 4 De Fevereiro, spokesperson Carlos Vicente confirmed to ch-aviation.

“On domestic routes, we will start flights only to five destinations, including Huambo, Catumbela, Lubango, Cabinda, and Soyo, using our two new DHC-8-Q400 planes,” he said.

The airline has four more DHC-8-Q400 on order from De Havilland Aircraft of Canada and, according to the ch-aviation fleets module, they will join TAAG’s fleet of five B777-300(ER)s, six B737-700s, three B777-200ERs, and one B737-700(QC).

International airlines re-entering the country will no longer have to apply for authorisation first once Luanda reopens, according to Angolan media quoting Minister of State and Head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida. However, access will only be allowed to Angolan nationals, foreign residents and foreign business travellers with work visas.

Passengers will have to undergo COVID-19 screening before travelling to Angola. On arrival, citizens and foreign residents will have to undergo home quarantine, while non-residents will be subject to an “institutional “quarantine. Angolan government representatives on official business will be exempted from quarantine. Anyone else violating the restrictions would be subject to a fine of up to AOA250 kwanza (USD0.40), according to local media reports.

Meanwhile, SJL Aeronáutica (Luanda 4 De Fevereiro) on social media announced it had resumed flights between Soyo and Cabinda from July 15, 2020 with its DHC-6, but limiting capacity to 75% (13 passengers). "On demand, we can operate inter-provincial flights from Cabinda, except for the provinces affected by the health fence (Luanda 4 De Fevereiro and Cuanza Norte)," the company said on July 14,2020.
