Electra Airways (3E, Sofia) has returned its only, and long inactive, B737-400, Skyliner Aviation has reported.
LZ-EBA (msn 28723) was ferried on May 14, 2021, from Varna via Reykjavik Keflavik and Portsmouth to Laredo, where it remains parked ahead of the planned conversion into a freighter. The aircraft is due to join the fleet of Aeronaves TSM (VTM, Saltillo) following a transaction facilitated by Classic Air Europe Limited. The lessor of the aircraft is Maverick Horizon.
The 24.1-year-old narrowbody had a short history with the Bulgarian ACMI/charter specialist, having been operated just for a single summer season. Electra Airways added the aircraft in February 2019, the ch-aviation fleets history module shows, but grounded it at the end of October 2019. Since then, the Boeing aircraft had been stored at Varna airport.
Electra Airways' current fleet comprises two A320-200s and a single B737-300, the ch-aviation fleets module indicates. Following a period of total dormancy during the COVID-stricken Winter 2020/21 season, the airline reactivated one of its Airbus aircraft in early March 2021. LZ-EAB (msn 308) remains Electra's only active aircraft as it operates charters and short-term ACMI contracts. The other two aircraft remain parked at Varna airport. The airline does not list the B737-300 on its website as an active aircraft type.
