Tigerair Taiwan (IT, Taipei Taoyuan) has announced the resumption of commercial in-house operations on December 25, 2021, with an initial network comprising four international services out of Taipei Taoyuan.
The low-cost carrier subsidiary of China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan) said its first relaunched routes would be to Osaka Kansai, Tokyo Narita, Macau International, and Seoul Incheon. The full schedule will be published on November 17, 2021. Tigerair's relaunch plans will, for now, only cover the period through March 26, 2022, with decisions regarding further steps due to be taken at a later point in time.
In order to attract passengers, the airline will be offering a pool of free fare tickets and will also extend flexible rebooking terms to all tickets purchased until the end of November 2021.
Tigerair Taiwan suspended all scheduled flights, then already severely curtailed, in late 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and prevailing travel restrictions in Taiwan and all of the carrier's international markets. It continued, however, to operate ad-hoc charters and wet-leased its aircraft to sister carrier Mandarin Airlines (AE, Taichung Ching Chuan Kang). The LCC operates eleven A320-200s and two A320-200Ns, with a further eleven A320-200Ns on firm order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac), the ch-aviation fleets module shows.
