Equair (Quito International) has announced its first international charter flights from Quito International, Ecuador to the Caribbean, including to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and Curaçao, on fixed dates in July and August 2022.
In a statement released on June 5 at a tourism fair in Cumbayá, the young airline said the charters would be operated with a B737-700 seating 142 passengers, providing 2,130 seats over the period. Flight packages will be marketed through various Ecuadorian travel agencies.
- Charters to Curacao will operate twice weekly on July 31, August 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24.
- Twice-weekly flights to Punta Cana will operate on July 30, August 3, 7, 11, 15, 19, 23, and 27.
According to the ch-aviation schedules model, neither of the routes is currently served by other airlines.
Equair began scheduled domestic operations in January 2022 with a fleet of two B737-700s. It has quickly gained market share, already ranking third at Quito International with 8.67% of weekly seat capacity behind avianca airlines Ecuador (32%) and LATAM Airlines Ecuador (28%), ch-aviation capacities data reveals.
It currently operates 6x daily weekday flights and four/five on Saturdays and Sundays, respectively between Quito and Guayaquil, the gateway to the Galapagos Islands.
It also operates 2x weekly from Quito to the Galápagos Islands of San Cristóbal, EC, and 4x weekly to Baltra Island, both with a stop-over in Guayaquil.
