EW Discover (Frankfurt International) plans to operate all of its long-haul operations out of Frankfurt International and will keep its secondary base at Munich as a short- and medium-haul station only.
According to a statement from the airline, its network from Frankfurt in the Summer 2023 season will comprise nine destinations in North America (Orlando International, Philadelphia International, Fort Myers Southwest Florida, Tampa International, Calgary, Halifax, Anchorage Ted Stevens, Las Vegas Harry Reid, and Salt Lake City) and seven in Africa (Windhoek International, Mombasa, Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar, Mbombela, Mauritius, and Victoria Falls), as well as Punta Cana, Panamá City Tocumen International, and Cancún.
EW Discover's short- and medium-haul network from Frankfurt will include destinations in southern Europe and north Africa, with a particular emphasis on Greece.
"EW Discover will also be in service from Munich in the summer of 2023 with three A320-200s on short and medium-haul routes. The final flight plan is currently being drawn up in consultation with Lufthansa Group," the carrier said.
The leisure-focused carrier launched in the summer of 2021 with Frankfurt as its first base and initially operating exclusively widebody aircraft. However, it quickly expanded into the narrowbody market with A320-200s launching operations from Frankfurt in late October 2021. It also added a base at Munich airport, initially with narrowbody aircraft but with plans to add long-haul services from Bavaria as well. These plans were put on hold when EW Discover assumed some transatlantic routes on behalf of its parent Lufthansa, which has struggled with capacity shortages.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that EW Discover currently operates eight A320-200s, three A330-200s, eight A330-300s, and two A350-900s wet-leased from Finnair.
