China Postal Airlines (CF, Nanjing) has applied to fly property and mail on scheduled and charter services between China and the United States. In a December 16 Department of Transportation (DOT) filing, the airline said it intends to use two new B777-200Fs on flights between Nanjing and Chicago O'Hare and Nanjing and Los Angeles International starting from next year.
The DOT filing identifies the two B777Fs to be used on the China - US country pair as new-build jets B-221X (msn 67763) and B-221Y (msn 67764). China Postal Airlines has already acquired both aircraft, with the first due to arrive at the airline on January 15, 2023, and the second on April 15. The carrier states that it wants to start its Chicago O'Hare flights in August 2023 and the Los Angeles flights in March 2024. Both services will have a technical stop in Anchorage Ted Stevens.
China Postal's Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) issued air operator's certificate allows the airline to transport cargo and mail between Chinese domestic airports (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and between Chinese domestic and international airports. The airline's filing states that it presently flies to 38 airports across China, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand with a fleet of 30 freighters, including seven B737-300(F)s, eight B737-400(F)s, eight B737-800(BCF)s, and seven B757-200(PCF)s.
"With the introduction of the B777F, China Postal’s capacity will gradually expand in the future. China Postal plans to expand its fleet to 45 aircraft by 2025, and the scale of routes will also continue to expand," the filing noted. China Postal Airlines is wholly owned by China Postal Express and Logistics Co., Ltd., which is 99.9616% owned by China Post Group Co., Ltd, which in turn is owned by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
