TUI fly (Netherlands) (OR, Amsterdam Schiphol) has signed a multi-year wet lease commitment with the United States' GlobalX (G6, Miami International) covering two A320-200s for three consecutive summer years.
The Dutch unit of TUI Group will base the two aircraft out of Amsterdam Schiphol in July and August of 2023, 2024, and 2025.
"Each year TUI and its airlines require extra aircraft capacity to match the high season demand in our European markets. GLOBALX offers a perfect match and we are happy to work with them to fly our guests into their holidays," TUI's head of aviation leases, Roel Martens, said.
The Dutch leisure airline operates six B737-8s, two B767-300ERs, and three B787-8s. It also wet-leases one B737-800 from sister carrier TUI fly (Belgium), according to the ch-aviation fleets module.
GLOBALX, in turn, operates one yet-to-be-inducted A319-100, six A320-200s, and two A321-200s, as well as a single A321-200(P2F) (and one more A321 in conversion). The ACMI/charter specialist signed a wet-lease contract for two A320-200s with TUI fly (Netherlands) in the Summer 2022 season. However, the deal was ultimately nixed, as GLOBALX did not yet have an EU Third Country Operator authorisation at that time.
