Florida's Makers Air (W7, Fort Lauderdale Executive) has acquired Staniel Air (Fort Lauderdale Executive), a Fort Lauderdale-based virtual carrier offering flights and day trips to the Bahamas, the two companies announced.
"With this acquisition, Makers Air is taking a significant step forward in expanding its service offerings, including more flights, increased route options, additional aircraft, and expanded passenger facilities," the company said in a statement.
Makers Air owner and President David Hocher said: "This acquisition complements and fortifies Makers Air's capabilities, bolstering our existing fleet and enlarging our existing departure and arrival lounges. By assimilating Staniel Air's aircraft into the Makers Air portfolio, we are well positioned to provide expanded services to current destinations, add new scheduled routes, in addition to enhancing our private charter division."
The merger means Makers Air will expand its fleet by nearly 20% and increase its flight availability by 25% with 24/7 booking options. Makers Air will also acquire Staniel Air's existing hangar, increasing space for the aircraft, lounge areas, and services for guests.
As a family-owned business founded in 1999, Makers Air was rebranded from Watermakers Air in 2018. It specialises in passenger charters and scheduled services to the Bahamian Islands with an active fleet of five Cessna (single turboprop) 208 Grand Caravans, according to ADS-B data. Destinations served from Fort Lauderdale Executive include Cat Island, Chub Cay, Staniel Cay, San Andros, North Eleuthera, Bullock Harbour, Andros Town, Congo Town, and Rock Sound.
