Air Serbia (JU, Belgrade Nikola Tesla) has signed a dry-lease contract with Nordic Aviation Capital for three ATR72-600s to expand its regional capacity.

Chief Executive Jiri Marek told ch-aviation the delivery timeline was not determined yet and hinged on supply chain issues affecting maintenance, repainting, and deliveries. The identity of the aircraft will be known by the end of January 2024.

Air Serbia currently operates seven ATR72-600s, including one dry-leased from Nordic Aviation Capital, having inducted the first of the variant in 2022. The ATR - Avions de Transport Régional turboprops form the core of the airline's regional network feeding its Belgrade Nikola Tesla hub.

With ninety ATR72-600s in its portfolio, the Danish lessor is the world's largest owner of the type. The ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows its largest customers for the type are Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras (AD, São Paulo Viracopos) with ten aircraft and Air Cairo (SM, Cairo International) with six.
