Avianca (Bogotá) has now also officially confirmed plans previously made public in an application with the US Department of Transportation to rebrand all of its subsidiaries oeprating under the Avianca brand. Exact details are to be unveiled later, but AeroGal (Quito International), Aviateca Guatemala (GU, Guatemala City), LACSA Costa Rica (San José Juan Santamaría), TACA International Airlines (San Salvador International), Trans American Airlines (Lima International) and TAMPA Cargo (Medellín José Maria Córdova) will all start to operate under the Avianca brand and where possible AV IATA code from 2013. The carriers will however all continue to operate as separate entities with own air operator certificates for a variety of reasons including international traffic rights. It is assumed that the TACA Regional carriers La Costeña (LC, Managua), SANSA - Servicios Aéreos Nacionales (RZ, San José Juan Santamaría) and Isleña Airlines (La Ceiba) not mentioned in the press release published by Avianca will also start to operate under a new regional brand.
