AirBridgeCargo (RU, Ulyanovsk Vostochny) has been granted Fifth Freedom traffic rights between Germany and the United States as part of a deal between the Russian and German civil aviation authorities. Russia's ato.ru newswire states that AirBridge Cargo will likely exploit the new opportunity with flights from Frankfurt International to Chicago O'Hare though this is still subject to confirmation from the airline. In return, Germany has been granted an additional 21 weekly cargo frequencies for its Trans-Siberian routes operating from Europe to Asia. Carriers using the additional frequencies, which will include Lufthansa Cargo (LH, Frankfurt International) among others, will make compensatory payments to Russian airlines as per existing royalty regulations.
