FloridaExpressJet (Fort Lauderdale International) has indefinitely postponed its launch plans after encountering funding as well as logistical problems. The airline had aimed for a March 20 launch using a chartered Swift Air (United States of America) (Greensboro Piedmont Triad International) B737-400, N804TJ (msn 23988) to serve both Orlando International and Tallahassee out of its Fort Lauderdale International hub.

"The company ran up against two issues," said Tallahassee aviation director Chris Curry, recounting to the Democrat newspaper the contents of an email from the airline. "The first was gate availability at Fort Lauderdale airport. The second issue is that their investment capital did not come in as they had hoped and at this point do not have the funds necessary to properly fund their marketing campaign."

FloridaExpress, though optimistic that it will find funding and therefore launch, has yet to confirm a new launch date.

Reservations, which were open, have now been closed with full refunds effected.
