Aerocaribbean (Havana International) has merged with fellow state-owned enterprise Cubana (CU, Havana International) reliable sources in the Latin American aviation community have reported. While their corporate structures have now been integrated, the status of Aerocaribbean's Air Operators Certificate (AOC) is currently unknown.
Neither firm had responded to ch-aviation for comment at the time of going to press.
Founded in 1982, Aerocaribbean operates three ATR42-300s and four ATR72-200s for Cubana on flights to Baracoa, Bayamo, Camagüey, Cayo Coco, Holguin, Las Tunas, Moa, Nueva Gerona, and Santiago de Cuba in Cuba as well as to Managua in Nicaragua and Merida M. Crescencio Rejon in Mexico.
