PAWA Dominicana (Santo Domingo Las Américas) has scheduled a Friday, August 14 launch date with 3x flights from its Santo Domingo Las Américas hub to Aruba, St. Maarten, and Curaçao. Operations will presumably be on-board one of the start-up's two DC-9-30s and its MD-82, HI-914 (msn 49476).
PAWA expects to add flights to San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin, Miami International, New York JFK, and Havana International during the second phase of its expansion plan.
Founded in 2007, PAWA's first incarnation grounded operations in 2012 before being acquired and relaunched in its current form by Simeon Garcia, the owner of Venezuela’s Aserca Airlines (Caracas Simón Bolivar) and SBA Airlines (Caracas Simón Bolivar), in 2013.
