Kalitta Charters (K9, Detroit Willow Run) says it has acquired the operational assets of Airnet Systems (USC, Columbus John Glenn, OH) in a move it says will provide the Columbus-based company with financial and operational backing to foster its long-term growth. The value of the transaction was not disclosed.
AirNet entered into receivership in February last year and has been looking for an investor ever since.
Aside from Part 145 MRO services, Airnet also operates a fleet of Beech (twin turboprop) Barons and Bombardier Learjets on scheduled and ad-hoc cargo charter services. It specializes in the transport of radio-pharmaceuticals/nuclear medicine in particular.
As a subsidiary of Kalitta Charters, Airnet will compliment its parent's operations in the field of MRO as well as Executive Charter, Air Ambulance, and Air Cargo operations.
