Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) has outlined its proposed plans for the deployment of two B737 MAX aircraft due to enter its fleet by the end of 2017. The new narrow-bodies are likely to be used on routes from Victoria International to Toronto Pearson and Montréal Trudeau, and between Calgary and Halifax, reports Skies Mag.
Duncan Bureau, Air Canada’s vice-president of global sales, also suggested that the airline would look at routes into the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Air Canada has placed an order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for a total of thirty-three B737-8s and twenty-eight B737-9s, with two due for delivery this year, sixteen in 2018 and the remaining forty-three by 2021. The MAX 8 is set to replace the carrier's Airbus A320-200s of which it currently has forty-two, while the MAX 9s will replace the A321-200s which number fifteen.
