CommutAir (Cleveland Hopkins) has announced it will accelerate the retirement of its fleet of sixteen Dash 8-200/Q200s and four Dash 8-300/Q300s as part of a deal with United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare).

The Ohio-based capacity provider said in a statement that under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding signed with United, it would replace the outgoing Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) props (now due to be gone by January 2018) with twenty-one additional E145s. These Embraer Regional Jets will add to the forty CommutAir is already slated to operate under the United Express brand as per a revised Capacity Purchase Agreement signed in 2016. As such, CommutAir will induct a total of sixty-one ERJ-145s aircraft through 2019.

Founded in 1989, Commutair is majority-owned by Champlain Enterprises, Inc. with United Airlines holding a 40% stake. Under the United Express brand, CommutAir operates more than 900 weekly flights to more than thirty destinations across the United States from bases at New York Newark and Washington Dulles.
