The board of Air Namibia (Windhoek International) has set out plans to acquire six Embraer Regional Jets as it seeks to renew and expand its narrowbody fleet.
According to company documents seen by The Namibian newspaper, the aircraft entail two E135s and four E145s and will be acquired outright for a total value of NAD197.7 million Namibian dollars (USD14.8 million).
The proposal will now be put to the carrier's shareholder, the Namibian government, for consideration.
Air Namibia currently operates four E135s which were leased from HOP!-Régional (Clermont-Ferrand) before being sold to Namibian passenger charter/ACMI specialist Westair Aviation (WAA, Windhoek Eros) earlier this year. Their lease contracts are due to expire in early 2018.
