SkyWork Airlines (Bern) has been awarded a contract to ferry Swiss Army personnel to Kosovo as part of their deployment under NATO's KFOR deployment in the region.
Beginning in October, SkyWork will run 2x weekly return flights between Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg, CH and Pristina with a stopover in Sarajevo offered every fortnight. It is recalled Swiss troops have also been deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Since spring 1996 these flights have been carried out by ASL Airlines Switzerland (Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg, CH), formerly Farnair Switzerland (Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg, CH), using the Fokker 27 initially before transitioning to ATR42-300 equipment in 2002.
