Alaska Airlines (AS, Seattle Tacoma International) will end B737-400(M) operations later next month the carrier's Vice President (Alaska) has told the Associated Press.

In an interview, Marilyn Romano said the type's last commercial service had been scheduled for Alaska Day, on October 18. The outgoing Combis are being replaced with a trio of B737-700(F)s, the first of which is set to be formally unveiled next month.

The -400(M)s are currently deployed on in their pax/cargo configuration on services to settlements around Alaska. In their dedicated cargo configuration, they are deployed on flights connecting Anchorage Ted Stevens, Juneau International, Ketchikan International, and Seattle Tacoma International and from Ketchikan to Sitka.

Other B737 Classics still in service for Alaska Airlines include four B737-400s and one B737-400(F).
