Qatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) has confirmed the placement of an order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for two B747-8(F)s and four B777-300(ER)s. According to the US manufacturer, the orders were previously attributed to an unidentified customer.
The announcement was made during the delivery ceremony for Qatar Airways' first B747-8(F), A7-BGB (msn 63199).
"As the world's third-largest cargo operator, Qatar Airways continues to invest in fleet expansion, with a second B747-8F due to be delivered in November," airline CEO Akbar al-Baker said.
Qatar Airways currently operates a cargo fleet of eight A330-200Fs and twelve B777-Fs.
