Kam Air (RQ, Kabul) is planning to begin scheduled international passenger flights out of Herat, a city located in the northwestern part of Afghanistan.
An Indian consulate statement, marking the start of Kam Air's 2x weekly Mazar i Sharif-Delhi International service on Monday, October 2, said flights from Herat to the Indian capital would also operate 2x weekly and would launch shortly.
The service will cater primarily to Afghans seeking medical treatment in India.
Despite being one of Afghanistan's largest cities, Herat is currently restricted to domestic flight operations. According to the ch-aviation route database, Ariana Afghan Airlines (FG, Kabul) connects Herat with Kabul while Kam Air connects it to each of Chagcharan, Zaranj, Farah and Kabul.
