Air Sénégal (HC, Dakar Blaise Diagne International) has announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for two A330-900neo with options for a further two. The start-up does plan to use the widebody jets, its first, to develop its medium- and long-haul network with deliveries scheduled for January 2019.
Air Sénégal is the Senegalese government's latest attempt at a national carrier following the collapse of Senegal Airlines (Dakar Yoff-Léopold Sédar Senghor International) last year. It is expected to take delivery of its first aircraft, a pair of ATR72-600s, later this month in time for the airline's official unveiling before year-end.
