The Government of Swaziland has announced the delivery of its VIP-configured A340-300, 3DC-SDF (msn 406), formerly B-18802 with China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan). The 17-year-old quadjet was ferried from Hamburg Helmut Schmidt to Manzini King Mswati III International on Friday, April 13.
The aircraft will be placed under the purview of the rejuvenated Royal Swazi Airways (Manzini King Mswati III International) and, aside from VIP trips for King Mswati III, will be proffered to the international charter market.
“As with its predecessor, Siyinqaba [MD-87 3DC-SWZ (msn 53041)], the State aircraft will, when not in use by our head of state, be available for private leasing,” Acting Prime Minister Paul Dlamini was quoted by the Swazi Observer.
Given its intention to place the aircraft up for commercial charter use, Royal Swazi Airways will operate the quadjet for and on behalf of the Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (Manzini Matsapha) when needed for official use.
