Drukair (KB, Paro) has set its fleet renewal plan in motion following the signing of separate agreements with each of Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) and ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac).
In a statement, the Bhutanese carrier said it had signed a purchase agreement with Airbus on April 11, 2018, for one A320neo due for delivery during the first quarter of 2019. The aircraft will be configured with 20 Business and 120 Economy seats.
Concerning ATR, Druk Air has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the purchase of one ATR42-600 on April 6. The turboprop is slated to deliver in July 2019.
Druk Air currently operates three A319-100s and one ATR42-500 on scheduled passenger flights throughout Bhutan as well as to India, Thailand, Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
