Kam Air (RQ, Kabul) has acquired its first turboprop aircraft in the form of two ATR42-500s.
According to deal facilitator Aerotask, the first machine is ex-Oman Air stock and was secured on a finance lease from an EU-based aircraft lessor. A second of the type will be delivered before the end of the year.
Kam Air plans to deploy the ATR - Avions de Transport Régional turboprops onto domestic Afghan services. It also operates three A340-300s, one B737-300, one -500, one B767-300(ER), one MD-82, two -87s, and one B737-500 (wet-leased from Ukrainian Wings).
