Zoom Air (India) (Delhi International) plans to resume operations on January 15, 2019, after its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) was renewed by the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Financial Express has reported.
"We will start operations from January 15 on the Kolkata-Tezpur sector which is an UDAN route," CEO Koustav Dhar said.
The carrier is also talking to new prospective investors about a INR1 billion rupee (USD14.3 million) capital injection. If successful, the new funds could become available to the regional specialist in mid-January.
"We plan to add five CRJ900 aircraft after the new set of investors coming on board," Dhar said.
The carrier has been dormant since July 2018 after its AOC had been suspended due to operational and safety concerns. The DGCA renewed the licence at the end of December 2018.
Prior to its grounding, Zoom Air deployed four CRJ200ERs on the government-co-funded UDAN flights mostly in India's North-East. It is understood that the airline plans to remain focussed on the same area after the restart.
