Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) has taken delivery of its first of forty A321neo on order from Airbus. D-AIEA (msn 8761) was delivered from Hamburg Finkenwerder to Berlin Schönefeld on Saturday, May 4.
According to Lufthansa, the jet will undergo pre-service-entry checks in Berlin before heading to Frankfurt International for induction. According to the ch-aviation schedules module, Lufthansa currently plans to launch A321neo operations on May 16, initially operating from Frankfurt to Berlin Tegel, Hamburg Helmut Schmidt, and Munich. The type is due to make its international debut on June 10 with flights to Barcelona El Prat, London Heathrow and Paris CDG.
The German carrier is an existing A321 Family operator currently employing twenty A321-100s and forty-three A321-200s. It also operates nineteen A320neo, seventy-four A320ceo, and thirty A319-100s.
