Tropic Air (9N, San Pedro, BZ) has announced it has acquired its first Beech 1900D with delivery scheduled to take place in December this year.
The Belizean carrier said in a statement the unspecified Beechcraft turboprop would likely make its commercial debut in early 2020 plying routes from Belize City International to each of Cancún (Mexico), Roatán (Honduras), and Flores Mundo Maya International (Guatemala).
“Adding a new aircraft type with new capabilities also means opportunities to look at new regional markets to add to our network, and we intend to do that. The 1900D brings cities such as Guatemala City and San Pedro Sula (Honduras) within a comfortable flying time for our passengers,” Steve Schulte, CEO, said. “This investment underscores our commitment to Belize, and to our confidence in tourism.”
According to Tropic Air, it currently operates two Cessna (single piston) 182Ts, two Gippsland GA8 Airvans, and fourteen Cessna (single turboprop) 208B Caravans on scheduled flights throughout Belize as well as to Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.
