Manta Air (NR, Malé) has taken delivery of its first two DHC-6-300s following the arrival of 8Q-RAD (msn 355) and 8Q-RAD (msn 588) in Malé on October 9 and 10.
The turboprops arrived with fixed tricycle landing gears but will shortly undergo reconfiguration into floatplane amphibians ahead of their commercial debut in November.
The Maldivian carrier is expecting a further two aircraft of the type - C-GDSO (msn 454) and C-GKBQ (msn 447) - to deliver over the coming weeks out of an overall order of 10. Other operators of the Twin Otter-300 in the Maldives include Maldivian (Q2, Malé) with 11 and Trans Maldivian Airways (TMW, Malé) with 47.
Manta Air currently operates three ATR72-600s on scheduled passenger flights connecting Malé with Dharavandhoo Island and Kudahuvadhoo.
