Wing Spirit (Honolulu) will commence charter flights from Honolulu for luxury inter-island travel with its 15-strong fleet of HA-420 Elites next year, according to reports from Honolulu's Star Advertiser newspaper.
Two of Wing Spirit's jets are already based at the airport in readiness to begin private charter flights from 1H 2020. In addition to these units, the operator also has two of its fleet being converted on the United States (US) mainland to an air ambulance configuration. These aircraft will help to provide urgent care for patients from neighbouring islands to Honolulu for treatment.
“Wing Spirit sees a niche in the Hawaii market,” the company said. “Our charter service will focus on Hawaii’s high-end business travelers as well as group travelers including locals and tourists seeking the ease, convenience and luxury of a private jet experience.”
Local Hawaiian aviation analyst Peter Forman, told the Star Advertiser that having 15 luxury jets in Hawaii “does raise eyebrows. It’s quite a high number of them.”
“Executive transport — taking well-to-do people between islands, probably is going to be a pretty good price point compared to other private jets, so they are going to explore the market and see how big it is,” Forman said. “So the jury is still out on how many people (will) do that, but it’s an attractive jet for that.”
