Vistara (Delhi International) took delivery of its inaugural B787-9 on Friday, February 28, after VT-TSD (msn 66526) was positioned from Everett to Delhi International.
The Indian carrier, a 51/49 joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines Group, expects to deploy the 299-seater widebody into service on crew training flights covering regional Indian cities initially. Thereafter, it will be used to serve unspecified locales in Europe and Japan from May onwards.
Vistara said in a statement to local media that it is expecting five more B787-9s direct from Boeing (BOE, Washington National). It is also expecting 13 more A320-200neo from Airbus alongside six A321neo from Air Lease Corporation.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows it currently operates thirteen A320ceo, nineteen A320neo, and seven B737-800s on scheduled flights covering 36 cities across India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Nepal, and Singapore.
