WF Aviation (Futuna Island Pointe Vele) has rebranded as Air Corail (Futuna Island Pointe Vele) with its launch now formally deferred to May 2021 due to the havoc wreaked by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Wallisian start-up was incorporated last year with Louis Alphonse as its Chairman. In early May 2020, it announced via its Facebook that it will now trade as Air Corail. The same name was used by a stillborn start-up in Comoros in 2017. Air Corail (Comoros) (Moroni International) secured its Air Operator's Certificate in Comoros in 2017 but never launched commercial operations.
According to the timeline on Air Corail's website, the carrier plans to incorporate in French Polynesia and conclude talks with aircraft manufactures in 2020. It hopes to launch in May 2021 with two aircraft of the same type - either E195-E2s or A220-100s.
Air Corail plans to operate its aircraft in a dual-class configuration with a premium cabin and a low-cost economy class. It is targetting services from Wallis to Nouméa La Tontouta, Apia Faleolo, and Nadi, and from Papeete to Apia and Nadi. The carrier hopes to partner with Air Tahiti Nui (TN, Papeete), French Bee (BF, Paris Orly), and Air New Zealand (NZ, Auckland International).
According to the ch-aviation schedules module, Wallis & Futuna is currently served exclusively by Aircalin (SB, Nouméa La Tontouta).
