Air Greenland (GL, Nuuk) has firmed up a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) it signed with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) in March this year for one A330-800. However, according to the state-owned Greenlandic carrier, as a result of COVID-19, the aircraft will now only deliver during the final quarter of 2022 as opposed to late 2021 as previously anticipated.
Despite the change in delivery dates, the business case for the A330neo remains the same. Air Greenland still plans to use the incoming aircraft to replace its current A330-200 on flights between Kangerlussuaq and Copenhagen Kastrup in Denmark at the end of 2022. It will also be used in the opening up of Nuuk and Ilulissat once their renovation and runway upgrade works are completed in 2023.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows Air Greenland also operates a single DHC-8-200 and six DHC-8-Q200s. It specialises in scheduled flights throughout Greenland and to Iceland and Denmark as well as medevac charters.
