Flyr (Norway) (Oslo Gardermoen) has completed its AOC certification drive with the Norwegian civil aviation regulator (Luftfartstilsynet) ahead of its planned June 30 inaugural commercial flight.
"The Oslo Gardermoen-Tromsø route is the first in a series of routes Flyr will start to operate during its first months of operations," the start-up said in a statement. "Going forward, the company plans to gradually broaden its offering through a stepwise expansion. Initially focusing on domestic Norway with selected European leisure destinations, then gradually expanding the European presence before completing a full Norwegian and European demand-driven offering."
So far, Flyr has taken delivery of just one aircraft - B737-800 LN-FGA (msn 40014) - although two more are expected by the time it starts scheduled flights.
According to its booking engine, Flyr will connect Oslo to Tromsø (up to 19x weekly), Bodø (daily), and Harstad/Narvik (up to 12x weekly) initially with Trondheim (29x weekly) and Bergen (30x weekly) to follow in mid-August. Its international debut will take place on August 21 with weekly flights from Oslo to Alicante as well as to each of Nice (2x weekly) and Malaga (2x weekly).
In its May 2021 investor update, the Norwegian LCC said its second phase of growth would see flights to the United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, Czechia, Germany, France and Sweden from Oslo and Bergen. After that, in phase three, flights from Trondheim to Croatia, Italy, the UK, Turkey, and Spain will launch. Flyr will expand service from Oslo to include Turkey, Cyprus, Hungary, Poland, the Baltic States, the Netherlands, and Croatia.
