Fly The Whale (New York Skyports SPB) has expanded its charter services in Florida for the winter season with two aircraft allocated to a new base at Fort Lauderdale Executive, plus three more to be added in the coming weeks, reports Business Air News.
LIMA NY (Farmingdale), which carries out flight operations for Fly The Whale, has relocated most of its fleet to Fort Lauderdale during the winter for charters in Florida and The Bahamas, it announced on social media. Although limited, it also maintains availability from its New York base over the season, the company said. In New York, Fly the Whale is based at the East 23rd Street dock from where it offers charters to East Hampton Town, Nantucket, and other popular destinations in the Northeast.
Chief Executive Officer Andrew Clark was not immediately available for more details.
“All of us at Fly The Whale are excited to have begun warm weather operations from our new base in Fort Lauderdale,” President Omer ErSelcuk told Business Air News. “We have two aircraft in place and will add three more over the next few weeks to meet peak Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's demand.”
Fly the Whale's southern fleet consists of three eight-seater Cessna (single turboprop) 208 EX Caravan amphibians and two standard nine-seater Cessna Caravans.
According to the company's website, its fleet consists of the two Cessna 208B Grand Caravans; seven amphibians including six Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EXs and one Cessna 208 Grand 675; and one S-76 helicopter. The company also sources private jets for charter.
