Dana Air (9J, Lagos) has at least temporarily lost its air operator certificate after a crash of one of its MD-83s (5N-RAM, MSN 53019) on Sunday, June 3 that has killed all people on board the flight and several people on the ground. The Nigerian government has also temporarily banned all MD-80 operations in the country (no other carriers operate MD-80s though) and suspended the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority until the investigation into the fatal accident is completed. Dana Air operated a total of five MD-83s prior to the crash.
