NAC Charter (NTN, Johannesburg Lanseria) has acquired 100% of Awesome Flight Logistics (AFL), a South African based entity which was a 50% partnership it had started with Australian leasing specialist Awesome Group Holdings in 2004, the company announced.

Effective from March 1, 2022, NAC has taken over the full ownership and management of AFL and the dry leasing of the company's fleet of Beech 1900Ds and EMB-120ERs to customers worldwide. NAC would also look to expand AFL and was already well advanced in identifying additional types to add to its existing fleet, NAC said in a statement.

The Perth-based Awesome Aviation Group will continue in its own right to maintain its aviation leasing offerings under its original ownership and leadership. NAC remains a client of the Western Australian company.

The acquisition of AFL is in line with NAC's stated objective to expand its international footprint. Apart from its South African and Australian Air Operator's Certificates (AOCs), the company has an AOC in the United States and is working for one in the European Union. In May 2021, it entered the US charter market though a 25% stake in Part 135 license holder Discovery Jets (Fort Lauderdale Executive). It is completing its application for an AOC in Malta to service air ambulance needs in western North Africa.
