Jet2 (United Kingdom) (LS, Leeds/Bradford) has wet-leased a B757-200 from fellow British operator Titan Airways (ZT, London Stansted) to add extra capacity to the Mediterranean, ch-aviation research has revealed.
G-ZAPX (msn 29309) has been based out of London Stansted and operating for Jet2 since May 26, 2022, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. The aircraft is deployed on a variety of routes to Mediterranean destinations, ranging from Faro in the west to points in Greece in the east.
Neither of the two airlines responded to ch-aviation's query about the duration of the wet-lease commitment. Jet2 does not file schedules for the aircraft.
The leisure-focused low-cost carrier operates an in-house fleet of eight B757-200s, as well as three A321-200s, seven B737-300s, and seventy-seven B737-800s. It is planning to retire the B757s and some of the B737s over the coming years and has a firm order for fifty-seven A321-200Ns. It also wet-leases two A330-200s from Avient Aviation, one A321 from Hi Fly, and a further two A321s each from SmartLynx Airlines, SmartLynx Airlines Malta, and Titan Airways, the ch-aviation fleets module shows.
For its part, Titan Airways operates two B757-200s, which it plans to replace with A321-200NX(LR)s.
