Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) has announced an order for two new-build B777-200Fs from Boeing with deliveries expected in 2024.
"The investment in long-range widebody freighters, combined with our growing B767 freighter fleet and robust passenger network will allow us to continue to bring to life the most flexible and diverse cargo operation in the Americas," Vice-President (Cargo) Jason Berry said.
The Canadian carrier entered the dedicated freighter market relatively recently, taking delivery of its first converted B767-300ER(BDSF) in December 2021. It currently operates two such units, both converted from its own B767-300ER stock. The induction of the two converted B767s allowed the airline to end makeshift freighter operations in May 2022. Air Canada also already took delivery of two new B767-300Fs directly from the manufacturer but expects to induct them into service in 2023.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that the airline's fleet of passenger B777s comprises six B777-200(LR)s and eighteen B777-300(ER)s.
In the first half of 2022, Air Canada recorded CAD697 million Canadian dollars (USD542 million) in cargo revenue or 10.6% of its total inflows.
