Cyprus Airways (CY, Larnaca) has signed a lease contract with Air Lease Corporation for two A220-300s during the ongoing 2023 Paris Air Show.
Both aircraft are scheduled to deliver to the Cypriot carrier by the end of the month and will be in service already for this summer season. They will come from ALC's existing order book.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that Cyprus Airways operates two A320-200s, wet-leasing a third unit of the type from Nordica (ND, Tallinn Lennart Meri). The first of its two A220s, C-FBPZ (msn 55208), is undergoing final completion works at Montréal Mirabel airport and will become 5B-DEA. The other is 5B-DEB (msn 55203). Both were originally destined for Air Sénégal (HC, Dakar Blaise Diagne International) but ultimately not taken up.
"The A220 will provide a new experience to our guests and marks our commitment towards sustainability. The A220 offers the newest technology on the market and gives great savings in fuel burn and direct operating cost," Chief Executive Paul Sies said.
ALC owns four more A220-300s already in service (all of the with ITA Airways (AZ, Rome Fiumicino)) and has firm orders for a further 63 as well as seven A220-100s, the ch-aviation fleets ownership module highlights.
