LAN Argentina (Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) is reportedly no longer allowed to increase its fleet of 12 A320-200s and 2 B767-300ERs any further according to a news report by newspaper La Nación Argentina saying that the government would have taken this step to protect national carrier Aerolíneas Argentinas (AR, Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery). LAN Airlines (Santiago de Chile) Vice President of Corporate Affairs Pablo Querol has downplayed the news article saying that LAN would have excellent relationship with the Argentinian government and that the two parties would jointly agree on fleet increases in the future as and when LAN would choose to do so saying it would not have received any official notice of such a ban on new aircraft for subsidiary LAN Argentina.
